good ol muar trip~

October 10th, 2005 by limfong

Its been ages since I last went back to Muar.
Not much changes after all, still the busy little town.
The pic below is my house in muar (FYI : its built by my grandfather himself almost 50 years ago - i think its sweet =))

Think i went back more of a feast than any other things!
Cos food there is nice and cheap!

Day 1

Manage to have dinner with mum and sis at a restaurant famous for its Thai Steam fish.
Sorry guys, no pics taken for this dinner.
Forgotten about it….

Had Steam fish, deep-fried "kangkung", fried kailan and a yam thingy.

not that nice anymore the food there..

Day 2

Started off the day with "full-of-bread" breakfast.
This is one of the stall that i frequent to satisfy my "roti bakar" cravings
Had the usual "teh-si", toasted bun spread with "kaya-butter", steam bun spread with "kaya-butter", steam white bread spread with "kaya-butter" and half boiled egg.  was very full after that…nutritious? ahhaha..
some pics as usual… =)Half_boiled_egg Tea Coffee_making

* muar’s white bread is manufacture locally with no preservative added.

After all the stuffing of bread, had lunch in one of the olden-style coffee shop.
They are famous for the chicken chop. And the price is cheap.
For a chicken chop served with mix-vege, fries and egg, i think its pretty cheap.

I think its only like RM6???

And tried the indian fried mee, not bad..i should say quite nice.. =)
If u were to see below, they are still using the olden "guiness" glass.
Kind of special ain’t it?

After that went to Malacca to have steamboat buffet.
Phew, its all about eat eat eat….
Went to this shop where i use to go during my uni-life in Malacca.
Its call "carry-on".  I bet all MMU ppl should know where is it…
For a price of RM14.80 (if i am not wrong), eat all you can…
yes, the price includes drinks as well….
Oh, its a grill-steamboat..that means u can grill at the side..
look pics below and you will know…

(yeah , that’s me after the steamboat..feeling hot and flushing red!)

After Malacca trip, went to Pelangi Hotel to have some mild drinks…
Had banana split and caramel pudding ( this sucks, cos the caramel was missing in action)
Usual Heineken…

Day 3

This time set to go back to KL…. i think i miss KL more… =)
Had some "mee-pok" in Muar… I think they call it "chou-mien" - Cantonese in KL
The mee is not that bad, except that I got soem slight sore throat that i have to make-do with the mee without chilli.
The one with chilli is simply yummy….

After all the sinful feasting, its time to head back to my small little box in KL…
Till next time

Cheers to Muar foodssssSSSssss

the sinful indulgence~

September 20th, 2005 by limfong

went to swensen after my sudoku championship.
I was supposed to be there for the ice cream mooncake considering sunday itself is the exact date for mooncake festival but luck not at my side and i settle for some other treats which turns out to be more sinful!

Image_00063Image_00074Image_00075Image_00072

Started of with rodeo wings~ see pictures below… its some chicken wings marinated and cook with bbq sauce.  The taste is there but maybe not well-cooked, i would say.
But overall definitely something to kick start a meal.

Image_00066
Image_00067

THen had chicken ham and cheese omelette. Starting tto sound sinful.  Wait till you hear the remaining treats!  Omelette wasn’t that great. But the stuffing (chihcken ham and chesse) is the one that gives teh taste to the omelette.  Definitely not a place to go for omelette but its not that bad after all.

Image_00068Image_00071

then came the stirloin steak…. not that great but not that bad after all as well…
came with all the right granishing, mashed potato (this is nice) some baby carrots and french beans (my favourite)

Image_00069Image_00070

all these main course is down with the ever sinful swensen ice cream blended and hazelnut blended.  How sinful can we get….

Then what’s a swensen trip without the ice cream?  Yes its that heavy the meal…
Had cookies summit (my fave ice cream cos its the cookies n cream n vanilla) and the celebrity brownies… yummie!

Image_00076Image_00077Image_00078_1Image_00081Image_00082Image_00083

all in all its just a tantalising meal and its worth it to be there for the food and ice cream….

till my next trip~

The 1st Malaysian Sudoku Championship

September 20th, 2005 by limfong

suprise suprise suprise… i actually went for the 1st malaysian sudoku championship held in ymca kl on 18/09/2005.
I did not really have any intention to join though i’m really addicted to it.
i Email the person in charge to enquire and the next thing i know she register for me without asking…
Though i didn’t get any prizes, but its and experience for me…
Always believe in my own personal quote:

"Winning is victory, but participation is self-victory"

Quite an experience…registration fee was RM5.  And the youngest participant was 10 years old and the oldest 72 years old.
WE were suppose to finish 3 puzzles. First - Easy, Second - Medium, Third - Difficult.
I lose out on the first puzzle itself…cos i copy the wrong number on the wrong column in the wrong grid … damn it.
But at least i finish all puzzles in under 30 minutes compared to the stipulated time of 90 minutes.
The winner finish all 3 puzzles within 12minutes and that’s a record..

Now waiting for a look out for the 2nd championship….
Found out that there is actually a Malaysian Sudoku website at www.sudoku.com.my
Alternatively, can still browse www.sudoku.org.uk for more topics on sudoku and other downloads as well

By the way this is the 2nd Sudoku championship ever held in the world.
The first one was held in Israel…. so, in a way glad to be part of the fun~

As usual, pictures viewing from the championship….
including my certificate award…..

the not-really Oriental night @ mandarin oriental

September 20th, 2005 by limfong

UOBM had its annual dinner at mandarin oriental @ 16/09/2005.
Me and the whole bunch of CMTs were there as early as 9am…..
Cos we were performing that night, so we need to be there early to practice…..

Then me + xf + mei went to check in to the hotel (got a nice room number : 1811) to rest.
We decided to rent a room so that we can rest and do not need to rush back to get prepared for the night.
Went to M.A.C. for make up with xf and then to evita for our hair-do.
Think most of the ppl can’t recognise me…cos decided to be a bit different…
put my fringe up….some say my fringe looks like a tsunami wave…
not too bad of an idea..hahahah

night went quite well… wonder what "oriental" means to different ppl.
Some came with arabian theme..which i don’t really think its oriental…. some indian….
err…. some even came with malay….. think we need to re-define "oriental"

whole bunch of us were quite nervous when we were preparing to go up the stage…
weeks of rehearsing equals to 10 minutes in the limelight….
sang two songs… the reason by hoobastank and "pang yau" by alam tam….

had lots of fun and yes..how can a night be without pictures Group

tHe reTurn of sudOku~

September 11th, 2005 by limfong

As a matter of fact, I just finish my CCP exam (guys, its not vulgar words as how you guys ask me~) on 3rd Sept. =)
I actually ban myself from doing sudoku until I finish my exam.
Cos seriously, sudoku is addictive once you get the hang of it. I am one sudoku addict!

Ok.. if you guys is still confuse about sudoku, just let me roughly guide you through.

Sudoku USUALLY (note usually, not always) comes in a 9 * 9 square grid, making it a total of 81 in all.
You need to fit in every digit from 1 to 9, into each row, column and box of nine squares - in any order.
The rules is, there can only be one "number" in each row, column and box.
i.e. there can only be "1" in that particular row and that particular column and that particular box..

It might sound a bit confusing, but believe me the first try will always be a bit hard but after a few trials, trust me that it will be easier and adictive.
Can surf the website www.sudoku.org.uk for more information or alternatively if you want to try it out, no fret, get a copy of The Star paper and go to "Star Two" and its always a puzzle at the comic section.

I tried those from the The Star and consistently been timing myself for speed and accuracy.
Considering that i’ve not been playing for a while, I tried doing one sudoku puzzle after my CCP, and time myself!

Went to Kinokuniya on Sunday and saw this books on sudoku, I was very eager to get them.
If possible all….. See the below pictures on the books that i saw. Simply amazing!
Friend of mine actually bought one for me. Thanks if you are reading this!

Esential_1 Dummies_3

New_york_post_1 Super_sudoku_1

The_times_sudoku_1

The book that I got is The Independent Book of Super Sudoku. Note the "super" makes a difference.
It can be consider as a more difficult level. Comes in a 16 * 16 square grid and you need to fill in the numbers ranging from zero to nine (note the difference btw the basic one) then at the same time need to fill in additional alphabets of "A to F". Just can’t wait to get started!

Hope by now, I haven’t bored anyone to death. Try it! Its fun but definitely not after a hangover… hahahah.. cheers to sudoku. =)

Trip to Perth

August 7th, 2005 by limfong

as mentioned on previous post, i was suppose to go on compulsory leave on mid-july… and yes.. i went to perth with jason (my pen-pal of 10 years.. believe it!). before that jason came down to malaysia and brought him somewhere… see the picture below.. guess where i brought him

Img_1414

yeap, it was the skybridge at klcc… can only be there for 10 minutes and no more than that… so can’t click click click away!…

then i went back perth to chill out from my job… loads of jobs to do… just freak out and i need a holiday badly.. so there i was in perth.. left klia and to changi airport ( we took SIA - so need to be in transit at SG)… reach perth .. and proceed to sleep as we arrive like 6.30am!!!!

I had fun over there. Was basically enjoying the weather.. perth life is a bit slow  as comparison to KL and its weather at that time was just nice… for the first time in my life i love the sun! i’m just the type to avoid the sun when i’m in KL… and ppl there drive with manners i would say…. but one thing bad, shopping centre closes at 5pm!!!… but i still ended up broke when i came back.. hahahaha.. so it doesn’t realy matter what time the shopping centre close….

went to fremantle, kings park, harbour town, north bridge, subiaco… err don’t really remember… .. some pictures for viewing as usual….
